These are the young people responsible for overseeing the direction of Generation Hope. They meet together regularly, and live around the UK. They are elected each year by their peers in Generation Hope.
The chair of the Youth Council is always over 18, as they are also automatically a trustee of Hope UK.
Youth Council Chair
My name is Joseph! I am currently studying Politics! In my free time I love fixing the world’s problems and watching YouTube videos of Gordon Ramsay meltdowns (give it a try). I love food, family, friends, travel and Jesus.
My name is Matthew and I live in Huddersfield. I am the middle child in a family of three sons. I love History and enjoy reading a good book. Exploring new places and keeping fit is something else I like to do.
In my spare time I read and binge-watch TV (don’t we all) – and I’ve probably seen every Austen period drama under the sun. (Matthew Macfadyen was a better Darcy sshhhh) and my friends think I’m going to be the Prime Minister when I’m older. Which is weird, as that means that those who profess to love me think I’m going to be the most hated person in the country, so when I get there, I’m going to deport all of them for their insolence.(Kidding.)
When I’m older I’d like to be a writer.
I have a Foundation Degree in Graphic Design, and can draw and play drums. I have been to India, Disneyland Paris & Berlin. I participated in the Inktober challenge twice. I like Lego, Marvel Comics, DC Comic, Sonic the Hedgehog and Digital Art, and I don’t like sudden loud noises (e.g. barking dogs) and getting ill.
I have just finished my GCSEs. When I am not at school or studying, I enjoy playing sports and socialising with friends and family.
Hi my name is Rosie and I sorta live in London. As you can likely tell from my picture, I enjoy dressing up, video games, and going to Comic Con (in that picture, I am cosplaying the Pyro from Team Fortress 2, except with the Soldier’s hat and Merasmus’ staff – honestly don’t ask it was a wild day). My passion is music (“classical” music) and I hope to grow up to be a composer for video games some day. Basically I am a huge nerd who has piano lessons (weird flex but ok).
National Youth Coordinator
I am a returner to the Hope UK clan, having first joined the organisation 18 years ago as the Youth Work Coordinator. I left in 2003 to pursue other ventures, namely teaching.
I have worked as an ICT and Essential skills teacher in prisons, pupil referral units and FE colleges.
I have also been in church leadership for over 18 years, mainly overseeing the Youth ministry, however my current responsibilities also includes the role of chair of the trustees board.
I’m Nathan, and I have been involved with Hope UK for several years, volunteering at events and helping the youth in Generation Hope grow in their faith.
When I’m not doing that I work in a primary school as well as doing other youth events in my local area.
I have a great sense of humour, enjoy sci fi films and do a bit of acting when I find the time.
“I have worked with Hope UK since 2015, firstly as the Youth Work Development Officer for Generation Hope and now as a part-time youth worker.
My role within Generation Hope is to support, encourage and connect with Generation Hope members who get sign up and volunteer with Hope UK. Getting to know and support so many unique, brilliant and wonderful young people is my highlight of working with Hope UK. I also assist and help out at exhibition events such as the Big Church Day Out and Soul Survivor.”
I am the founder and Managing Director of Lite-Waves Therapeutic Education; I am experienced and qualified in community development and counselling. I have a BA (hons) degree in Informal and Community Education and completed an Infant Observation study with the British Association of Psychotherapists (BAP). I have worked with families, young people and linked agencies in different capacities for over 20 years as a mentor, drug educator, counsellor, family worker, and parent support advisor. I have been a Hope UK volunteer since 2004.
